Born on 12.10.1925 in Tolcsva

Died on 31.3.2015

Member of “Hashomer Hatzai”

Moshe was raised in an Orthodox family. After the Germans invaded Hungary (19.3.1944) he was drafted to a forced labor unit. The day after the “Arrow Cross” took control of Hungary  (15.10.1944) he deserted his unit and came into the “Glass House” and joined “Hashomer Hatzair”. Moshe was active in delivering Swiss Protection Documents (Schutzpass) and in supplying food to those in the “Glass House”. He was caught in one of his missions and taken to the “Arrow Cross” headquarters, but soon afterwards released. After liberation (18.1.1945) he joined a “hahshara”, made aliya and lived for a while in a kibbutz. Upon graduating university studies in education, Moshe was appointed to the post of national superintendent in the Ministry of Education. [His son, Eliezer, was chief commander of the Israeli air force.] Moshe Shkedi is the author of The Great Leap from the Train (in Hebrew), published by Rotem, 2005.
